If it were a question of our being asked to use grey hat or black hat tactics, we have never been a proponent of such tactics, and we will not use them to promote a client. This discussion typically takes place pre-sale. We will advise the prospect to only use commonly search engine approved and accepted practices. We have turned away business when a prospective client required us to use unethical tactics as part of their search marketing strategy.

In the situation where the client company has leaned towards a certain strategy direction over one that we have suggested, we do some value justification research for the client to determine which direction has the greatest potential for return towards achieving their business objectives. Ultimately, the choice between directions is up to the client, but at least when the client is armed with this information, they are better equipped to make the right decision for their company, and better prepared to deal with the outcome of their choice.
