See external links.

A back link is a link that point to a particular web page. They can be internal links (links from your own site) or external links (links from sites other than your own).  Checking back links means examining which sites are linking to your site's pages.  In Google this can be done through Google Webmaster Tools or by performing the following command in a Google search bar:

link:www.yoursitehere.com

It should be noted that when checking back links in Google using this command only shows a sample of links to your site.  Google claims to be aware of all of the back links to your site, but only reports on a select few.

To get an accurate back link count, consider using Yahoo's Site Explorer Tool.http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/

  1. Enter your Site URL
  2. Click "Inlinks"
  3. Select "Except from this domain" in the first dropdown
  4. In the second dropdown select "Entire Site" to see all of your site's back links or "Only to this URL" to see the back links to a specific page.
