BTF - the portion of a web page that you have to scroll down to see. From an SEO perspective it is a preferred practice to ensure that your important content be found above the fold to help the search engines find your content.  In addition, from a usability perspective, placing important content and conversion triggers below the fold may provide a poor user experience resulting in user frustration.  A well designed website will feature important content and calls to action above the fold.
