Taking in visual data is a physiological process. The fovea, a small depression in the retina, is our area of clearest vision. Foveal vision is when we move our eyes to ensure that visual input falls on the fovea. Our eye moves along lines of text in small jumps taking in little gulps of words to focus them on the fovea. The little jumps are called saccades, and the little gulps are called foveal fixations. Most information obtained from the eye is made available during a fixation
