PageRank was developed by Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin. It is a software system for ranking web pages. PageRank counts a link from one page to another as a vote and then adds them up. In addition to the votes, PageRank analyzes the pages themselves. Pages linked to other highly linked pages are more highly ranked. In addition, PageRank uses techniques that match text in order to determine the search relevance of a site.
