| Pay-per-click (PPC) is
an online advertising platform that applies to ads that are featured within
search results pages and individual web sites or blogs. How the model
works is that advertisers pay each and every time a user clicks on an ad
that takes them to the advertiser's site or landing page.
Pay-per-click advertising is a advertising model whereby the advertiser
pays only for the traffic they receive differing from a traditional
advertising model of a CPM or Cost per Thousand impressions model. With PPC,
the advertiser does not pay anything for the impressions, only the physical
action of the user clicking on the ad.
Pay per Click advertising is a cost-effective, highly targeted, and highly
measurable advertising medium that is currently available through the majority of Search Engines.
PPC can be limited to the search engines and their search partners or can
be expanded to include greater numbers of impressions with the content
networks (Contextual Advertising).
Also known as cost-per-click.
