Some web pages are created dynamically from a database, on-demand, as the visitor lands at its' URL. A static web page is one that has already been created in total and saved as a .HTML file. Static pages are typically friendly to search engine spiders and are therefore a positive web design feature from a search engine marketing point of view.

A static URL would appear something like this:
