Google's Golden Triangle

The Golden Triangle is a distinct area of intense eye scan activity that is located in the top left corner of Google's search results page. Enquiro's original research found that if your listing is not in the Golden Triangle, your odds of being seen by a searcher are dramatically reduced. Enquiro first discussed the Golden Triangle at Search Engine Strategies New York in the Spring of 2005. Although we had been doing research on how people use search engines, the discovery of the Golden Triangle was the first time we had findings with such visual impact.

Here is a sample of our original eye tracking study discussing the Golden Triangle of Search.
