Yahoo Testing New Look for Home Page
February 28, 2006

Yesterday Yahoo began testing a new look for its home page.  I must say that I was quite impressed.  It was cleaner and had a more modern look to it.  Along the left of the page there are links to various Yahoo features/topics such as Autos, HotJobs, Photos and Yellow Pages.

There is a large search bar at the top of the page beside the Yahoo logo. Above that you are presented with links to the normal features such as Web search, Images, Video, Audio, the Yahoo Directory, Yahoo Local, News and Shopping.

The overall look is very sleek.  They have made great use of white space and color scheme. The page layout is not too busy and opens up avenues for all kinds of navigation.

Along the left below the fold there is also links for small business owners and other featured services such as Yahoo 360.

Here is a quick look at the new look being displayed.

You can even provide feedback for the new home page by going to http://events.yahoo.com/326123171.html.

I must say that Yahoo must be listening to somebody’s feedback because the new look is pretty impressive.  It will be interesting to see just how much they change the look of the home page.  Now if we can just get them to change the search results so that the relevancy factor is improved.  That may even force Jeeves the Butler out of retirement.
